Sweet, savoury, and sticky — Chinese-inspired pork belly strips that are dangerously moreish.
Ingredients
- 800g pork belly, cut into thick strips
- 3 cloves garlic, crushed
- 4 tbsp soy sauce
- 3 tbsp honey
- 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tsp Chinese five-spice
- 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
- Sesame seeds and spring onions to serve
Method
- Mix all the sauce ingredients together.
- Place the pork belly strips in the slow cooker and pour the sauce over.
- Cook on Low for 6-8 hours until the pork is meltingly tender.
- Carefully remove the pork and place on a baking tray.
- Reduce the sauce in a small pan until thick and sticky.
- Brush the pork with the reduced sauce and grill for 3-4 minutes.
- Serve with rice, scattered with sesame seeds and spring onions.
Tips
The grill step at the end gives you those beautiful caramelised, sticky edges. Don’t skip it.
