Ingredients

  • 150g pudding rice
  • 1 litre whole milk
  • 75g caster sugar
  • 30g butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of ground nutmeg
  • Jam to serve

Method

  1. Grease the slow cooker insert with a little butter.
  2. Add the rice, milk, sugar, butter, vanilla, and nutmeg.
  3. Stir well.
  4. Cook on Low for 3-4 hours, stirring once halfway if possible.
  5. It's ready when the rice is soft and creamy.
  6. Serve with a dollop of jam.

Tips

Use pudding rice, not basmati or long grain — it’s starchier and creates that classic creamy texture.
